“The whole fan-dom crazy Twilight hype thing? It’s all very fleeting.”

They became major stars overnight thanks to the overwhelming success of their movie “Twilight.” And earlier today (February 27) Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner were spotted giving Japanese audiences a glimpse of their hit vampire flick.
Greeted by a throng of eager fans, Robert, Kristen, and Taylor looked to be having a marvelous time as they arrived at the big premiere event in the capitol city of Tokyo.
Pattinson donned a hunky dark suit with striped tie, while Kristen looked positively gorgeous in a one-shoulder white dress, and Taylor donned a black suit/black shirt combo.
Back here in the States, “Twilight” fans are eagerly anticipating the DVD release on March 21st, as well as the next installment of the series, “New Moon” due in theaters later this year.

As Summit Entertainment looks to lock in a director for the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, the company is talking to a select group of directors — including actress-turned-helmer Drew Barrymore, EW has learned. While this news may come as a surprise to some, Barrymore did just finish work on her directorial debut, Whip It! starring Ellen Page. Neither Summit nor Barrymore’s reps would comment for this story

From George Lucas to Michael Phelps to the Octo-Mom, every famous person has to deal with it at some point: Backlash. But now, as the vitriol begins to boil around Kristen Stewart, we have to wonder: Are the Twilighters being too mean?
The latest brouhaha began brewing when Robert Pattinson showed up to Sunday’s 81st Annual Academy Awards without the “Twilight” leading lady on his arm. As fans know, from the MTV Movie Awards to Comic-Con and various other events throughout 2009, it was extremely rare to see one actor making a publicity appearance without the other nearby. Immediately, rumors began circulation that there was more to KStew’s conspicuous absence than met the eye.
Sure enough, when the 18-year-old’s father John Stewart (no, not that one) showed up on the red carpet, the TV producer was approached by the incomparable Billy Bush. George W.’s cousin asked Kristen’s dad why she wasn’t presenting with RPattz, and his answer was as honest as it was shocking.
He said that Kristen would present at the Oscars, “When it’s a great movie, not just one that makes a lot of money.”
So basically, in addition to revealing the belief of Kristen’s father that “Twilight” is not a great movie, the quote seems to imply that the star agrees with her Dad. Piled on top of this comment is Stewart’s recent interview with “Nylon” magazine in which she referred to the “psychotic situations” and “bullsh—questions” of the “Twilight” promotional tour. Which brings us to the fallout in recent days from the Twilighters.

{ People are so heartful! I had to remove the last part because the comments of the “Twilight fans” were so out of place. I think that she does not deserve that kind of treatment, I mean, she is a great actress, one of the biggest and she makes a great job as Bella Swan. I also believe that she doesn’t think Twilight is the great deal that everybody think it is, maybe she can’t understand why people act so… “crazyly”. We support you Kristen ♥ Now, we would like to know what do YOU think about it. Feel free to comment. }

Summit Entertainment has set Eclipse as the third picture in the vampire series, with a mid-summer release date of June 30, 2010, reports Variety.
Twilight, which launched Nov. 21, has generated $189 million domestically and another $174 million overseas. Summit is expected to begin production shortly on “New Moon,” the second film in the series, with a planned Nov. 20 opening.
Chris Weitz replaced Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke on New Moon, but the key leads — Robert Pattinson as Edward, Kristen Stewart as Bella and Taylor Lautner as Jacob — reprise their roles.
Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote the Twilight and New Moon scripts, is working on Eclipse. Summit has yet to select a director for Eclipse, in which Bella is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob.
The four books in Stephenie Meyer’s series have sold more than 17 million copies worldwide.
In New Moon, the Jacob character becomes a central figure in the plot as Bella is drawn into the world of the werewolves, the ancestral enemies of vampires.

Jason Mewes, better known to most as Jay to Kevin Smith’s Silent Bob, is teaming up with Twilight sensation Kristen Stewart for a prison comedy. And if that’s not weird enough, Kristen Stewart will play a dude!
We actually first hard about this project back in November. Jason Mewes toplines the film while Stewart co-stars with fellow Twilighter Nikki Reed. Both undergo gender transformation for their roles. It’s directed by Kristen Stewart’s mother Jules, which I guess explains how they landed one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood to show up for it. The update here is that this isn’t just some crazed fantasy after all, it’s really happening.
Jason Mewes stopped by Moviehole today and talked to them about the movie, being called K11. He says their start date in January slipped, but they’re shooting in August or September. This may have something to do with Stewart’s commitment to the Twilight sequel New Moon which is due out in November and should by this time, be heavy into production if they plan to have it ready by fall 09.
As for Mewes, it’s always great to see him getting more parts outside of Smith’s View Askew universe. With his willingness to go full testicle for a role, he’s the perfect choice for any prison shower scene. Click over to MH for more on Jason’s role in K11.

Kristen covers Nylon magazine at the March 2009 edition. And talks about who she is dating, her David Letterman appearance and co-star Robert Pattinson.
Kristen Stewart on David Letterman, Joan Jett, and Hollywood’s new blood.
Though she’d caught our eye with her piercing turn with Emile Hirsch in Into the Wild last year, it was her Twilight role as Bella Swann, the mortal love of a “vegetarian” vampire named Edward Cullen (a phrase now synonymous in America with “hot, unattainable soul mate”) that showed she was ready for her NYLON cover turn. Apparently, Superbad director Greg Mottola agrees – he’s cast Kristen opposite Jesse Eisenberg in his new flick Adventureland.
Here’s what Kristen told us about her new life as a bonafide, tabloid-chased celebrity. Read the new issue of NYLON for even more about the world of a Hollywood veteran, but a very new movie star.
On the Twilight Madness: “Anywhere we’d go for Twilight was a psychotic situation. The sound was deafening, and it’s thoughtless, as well… You get a slew of all these bullshit questions like, ‘What’s it like to kiss a vampire?’ and ‘How much do you love Robert?’ Then you’ll get one that’s actually real, but you’re like, ‘No, I can’t right now, I can’t even consider [it].”
On her memorable David Letterman appearance: “I feel like I have nothing to say on those shows… I’m not good at the funny thing—most people are really great on those shows. I don’t have a contrived personality that [I can] just pump out [for] a five-minute segment, so I end up sitting there and looking kind of baffled. Embarassing.”
And no, she’s not dating Robert Pattinson. “It’s just totally false… Rob and I are good friends. We went through a lot together, so we feel very close. But if we go out in public, every little detail is scrutinized, like the way I stand next to him. And it’s like, I know this guy really fucking well [laughs]. It’s only natural that we’re sort of leaning on each other, because we’re put in the most fucking psychotic situations.”On who she’s actually dating: “He’s older than me—he’s 20 now—but when you’re 13 and he’s turning 16, it was always sort of an out-of-reach thing. Then you get a little older, and you realize, ‘Oh, What the fuck am I thinking? I can have you, like, lickity…’” she snaps her fingers, laughing. “He’s awesome.”

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Sequels can often take years to get made, but fans looking to sink their teeth into more “Twilight” won’t have to wait too long.
The third film in the series, “Eclipse,” will arrive on June 30, 2010, Summit Entertainment confirmed to Access Hollywood. Sequel “New Moon” is due November 20 of this year.
Moreover, the series now has a name; based on the beloved novels of author Stephenie Meyer, the series has been officially named “The Twilight Saga.”
Chris Weitz will helm “New Moon,” which will see stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner reprise their roles. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who penned “Twilight,” will adapt both “New Moon” and “Eclipse.”

As Juliet once said to Romeo: A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Now, modern-day star crossed lovers Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are getting ready to carry on with their cinematic love affair. But will the second “Twilight” movie smell as sweet now that it has a brand-new name?
MTV News has the scoop on the official name and logo for Chris Weitz’s soon-to-film sequel to “Twilight.” Dubbed “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon,” the film’s official title art stays true to the look of the first movie while swapping in an orange tint, a subtle crescent moon, and the release date of 11.20.09.
Although the look of the new logo will undoubtedly get Twilighter tongues wagging, it’s the five-word official title that is the most prominent variation from Stephenie Meyer’s simple “New Moon.”
With roman numerals now considered taboo in Hollywood, and sequel names like “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” and “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li” in vogue, it makes sense that Weitz and crew would label the future films as “The Twilight Saga.” At the risk of reading too much into five words, it also seems to imply that “New Moon” will boast a more epic feel than the first movie.
As for the logo itself, Weitz has chosen to stay with the lowercase lettering, personable font and light-streaks-poking-through look of last year’s hit film. In switching from blue to orange, the movie’s upcoming posters will be instantly distinguishable from those of the original “Twilight” – which should make them look a whole lot cooler when teenage girls all over the world add them to their walls. The presence of orange also begs a new question: Now that blue and orange are taken, which colors should be used for “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”?
It’s one of the most anticipated movies of the year. It’s the next installment in a worldwide phenomenon. And now, it’s called “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon.” Stay tuned, Twilighters, as MTV will continue to bring you all the latest news from now until November.

Joan Jett is thrilled to hear Twilight star Kristen Stewart will play her in an upcoming biopic – because she thinks the actress has the “right energy” to play the part.
Stewart will play the ‘I Love Rock & Roll’ hitmaker in new film The Runaways, and the real Jett couldn’t be happier.
She says, “When her hair is cut and with the right make-up, Kristen should make a really good me.”
The odd couple has already had a chance to jam together, and Jett is impressed with the young star’s musical skills: “She sounded great and played well. She has the passion for it, which you can’t really be taught.”
